Affiliation
In the past I've either not had in-depth information on how I feel about affiliation or I've linked to old updates that listed the details. To replace both of those, I decided to write out in one page all of the information as a quicker reference and a page that is just, all around, easier to get to. These are guidelines and should be taken as such. It is a rough outline of my views on affiliation but there are always exceptions.Status: Closed.
Apply by filling out the generic contact form because there really isn’t a need for a separate one. In the comments just let me know a little about your site, what your plans are for it, what your views are on affiliation, and why you want to affiliate with SF.
What I’m looking for:
- Friendship - I like to be friends in some way, shape, or form. We don’t have to talk constantly and I’m willing/able to talk in both IM and email. I try to keep a balance of friendship and business. At least some sort of acknowledgement every once in a while is fine in most cases.
- Creativity - What I look for the most is creativity. Have a style of your own. Express yourself. Sites are about having fun and enjoying yourself.
- Have at least some sense for presentation. Setup, coding, aesthetics.
- Update - This is a very subjective thing for me. You don’t have to update every day, every week, or even every month. But I want to know that you are alive and still interested in your site. If it’s been a few months of no updates and no contact, I start to wonder. On the same token, try to have some sort of progression of growth. Basically, keep an interest in your site. And, of course, if you let me know what is going on with your site if you can't update, I'm willing to be patient.
- Art Sites - For arts sites, let me break down what I want / don’t want. As general clarification, for me, "arts" sites can be both written and visual. You need to have a substantial gallery. Basically, enough that I know that you really enjoy it and you have dedication towards your site. Portfolios are fine. Art blogs are fine if you also have a gallery–format for viewing. I don’t want sites that only redirect the art to DeviantArt or something of that sort. I don’t want plain blogs.
- Graphics / Design Sites - Have a decent amount of content; enough that I know you enjoy your site and have dedication towards it. I'm iffy on accepting wallpaper-only and icon-only sites but, as always, all sites are considered. Just be good at what you do and have fun doing it.
- Further, I’m only interested in affiliating with Art & Graphic/Design sites. Not plain blogs. I don’t mind if you blog some in between your updates but if you stop updating and only blog, I’ll start to wonder if the site genre has changed.
- Linking - I’m not going to do the “top affiliates” and “one-page affiliates” thing. I’m going to link you on all pages and I expect the same.
- So, to sum it up, don’t be afraid to apply because of what you’ve heard if you really do want to apply. I consider every application. Even if you’re a beginner and want to apply, do so; remember: I’m looking for creativity, not popularity.
