Hello, Visitor!

Hosting and Sponsoring

I have a large hosting plan that has way more space and bandwidth than I will ever use on my own. Because I don't like to waste, I host. Because I want to have my space used to its full potential, I want to host people that are good at what they do and will grow and expand their site. That isn't to say that I will only host big sites or professional-like sites. What I'm looking for are sites that have potential and people who want to take their site and have it grow. You need commitment, perseverance, and you need to like what you do.

What will I host? Pretty much anything if it adheres to the above, whether it be a personal site, creative arts site, graphics site, or what have you. I'm willing to host as well as sponsor both subdomains and domains. If you view the current hostees and sponsorees you will get a better idea of what I'm looking for. What won't I host? Music rotations, forums, etc.

To let you know about me, and the service you will be getting, I will tell you a little bit about how I handle things. First off, please don't think of me as some high-up person that you can't email, and can't ask for help. I'm not. I am here to help you in any way possible regarding your hosting and, in some cases, your site itself. I will do my best to help and will not cast evil spells on you for emailing me. As with most fairies, I am easily pleased and will do my best to keep misfortune from you.

I've also set up a Question and Answer page for some of the questions/issues that are raised more frequently. If you have been accepted for hosting, please visit the page and read through. It would also be a good page to read if you have a question because it might be answered there.

Rules

In the past I have been pretty lenient about my rules. However, I noticed that in some cases they went ignored but they really are here for a reason. So, from now on I really will be sticking to them.
  1. Be nice and use basic netiquette. Don't steal. Credit where credit is due. Don't use anything illegal on my space. Try to stay kid friendly. Low profanity, if any. No porn, hentai, or anything of that nature.
  2. Link to http://www.skyefairy.net on every page of your site. Better than the freeserver ads, right?
  3. Update. I'm not saying you have to update every day or even every week, but let people know you aren't dead. I understand about having a life but I want my space to be used. If you are going on an extended vacation that will affect the updating of your site (a month or longer), either post that on your site or let me know through email.
  4. With that said, keep me updated. If you are having a problem and can't update for an extended period, let me know. If you're closing your site, moving, etc., let me know.
  5. Know what you are doing. You need to know basic HTML and CSS and have somewhat decent design skills enough to make your own layouts for the site. You need to know FTP or be able to use an online uploader (to be specific, webftp.dreamhost.com).
  6. Your site must be in English.
  7. If you are accepted, the space is for you. Do not distribute the space to other people. I'm paying, you're not. If they want hosted or sponsored, they can apply here like you.
  8. You are responsible for keeping any and all scripts you use up to date.
Periodically, I will do hostee checks to make sure that the site is being kept up and the rules are being followed. If they aren't, you will receive an email letting you know what is going on (what rule you are breaking, etc.) and that you have a month to respond or fix the problem. In about a month, if I haven't received a response, I'll check back by your site to see if it is resolved. If it isn't, I'll either email again or remove the site depending on the severity. If it is ever taken down at this stage, a backup will be made. If there is ever a problem so serious that it needs to be taken down without notice, I will always make backups, though that has never happened before.

The Plans

Subdomain Hosting or Sponsoring

As said above, I most likely have enough space and bandwidth to cover your needs. There are no rigid plans because every site has its own space needs and bandwidth usage. So, let me know what you need and use what you have. And, as a sidenote, please only ask for what you will use or plan to grow to use in the near future. Over-guessing and over-requesting tell me that you don't know what you are talking about, don't respect my space, or both. If you don't know, say so and I'll do my best to help you figure out what you will need.

Along with the basic Dreamhost features, you can have up to 5 email forwarders and 5 MySQL databases (more if put to good use).

Domain Hosting

With domain hosting you get everything mentioned above. This is the hosting plan for those with domains, but there are some restrictions. You must provide your own domain name--I will not buy it or acquire it for you.
